The Matshot Episode 5

A new episode of 더맛샷 (The Matshot) aired on Thursday, but I am only getting around to writing about it now.

A Matshot family picture.

This photo has nothing to do with this particular episode, but Junwoo posted it on Instagram earlier this week, and I thought it was very, very cute.

Unfortunately, I thought this week's episode was fairly boring and not as funny as episodes one and three, but it did have some good moments. So let's take a look at what happened in episode five...

The guys head out to their main location.

Of course before they could do anything, they had to pick teams.

The teams are the same as last time, except they swapped chefs, so Heejun and Suwon are on the black team and Taewoo and Thunder are on the white team.

I bet he's happy he didn't get stuck with Heejun again.

Suwon already trying to get Heejun to shut TF up.

Then it's time to announce the theme for the cook off. Instead of Lee Yeonbok, chef Kang Leo (whom I also know only from his appearances on 1N2D) joins them this week to be a judge.

I'm not entirely sure but I think it's a Sechskies theme. I have no clue what that could mean though.

The teams then head off to the waterpark to, as usual, sample dishes and play some games.

Unfortunately, they play that one game that they played during episode one again...

Even the chefs get involved...

Literally my exact same reaction to all this, too, Suwon.

The white team wins somehow so they get a snack...

But they can't say no to Suwon's little baby face.

Next they have to go out into the park and find random celebrity look-a-likes.

Suwon scanning for celebrities.

Of course this was very awkward. Heejun brings back some dude that he claims looks like Kim Jongkook but is just hella muscular, and Suwon brings back some white guy who supposedly looks like Mel Gibson but totally doesn't. WTF. SMH. But Taewoo actually finds some guys who look kinda like Kim C and San E, so the white team wins again.

Now it's time for an actual food competition...

The two teams have to go head-to-head against each other and create their own bingsu dishes.

They hit a grocery store to buy some ingredients...

Suwon happy about pineapples.

Heejun digging around in some ice cream.

And then they head back and start bingsu-ing...

Heejun sampling some of Thunder's ingredients.

Suwon and Thunder go up against each other in a tasting battle.

Thunder has made some sort of an ice cream sandwich that leaks.

And Suwon made some frozen pineapple thing.

TBH, I would eat this.

Then Heejun and Taewoo are up.

Heejun is crazy pumped about using melon.

Fighting dirty.

I'm not sure what exactly Taewoo made, but it looks infinitely more appealing than the mess Heejun presents to Kang Leo.

Taewoo's.

Heejun melon bingsu with a bunch of whole cherries thrown in.

Heejun's dish looks like shit and even the Kang Leo looks like he really does not want to put it anywhere near his mouth, and when he does try it, it's pretty obvious that Heejun lost the round.

Next it's time for the chefs to do battle.

And Junwoo goes all out...

Already looking fancy as hell.

While Jingon just makes something pretty and fruity...

Junwoo's finished dish.

Before the winners are announced, they all sample each other's bingsu.

Even Heejun's.

Taewoo spitting out the atrocity.

Suwon immediately spitting out the bingsu and looking at Heejun like he's offended.

Finally Kang Leo picks the winners, and the white sweeps it~

For once Heejun has been defeated...

If you would like to watch it all yourself, check it out here.

Next week's episode looks pretty funny, at least judging from the preview, so I'm really looking forward to this upcoming Thursday, for sure.
