Ayy, check out Yoomin

Yoomin got to do a pictorial, and he looks pretty good in the photos that just got released.

But of course, the motivation behind the shoot is for him to be able to talk about his weight loss.

OMFG THE WONDER GIRLS ARE BACK

Holy shit. The Wonder Girls finally came back and brought with them a glorious 80s concept album.

The MV for "I Feel You" is so aesthetically perfect that I want to live in it.

But that's not it. Their whole entire album is AMAZING. Literally every song is a solid jam. It's so hard to even pick favorites... Okay, so TBH, I really enjoy "Candle," "One Black Night," "Faded Love," and "John Doe."

I cannot believe this happened. Kpop has actually been saved.

Thank you, JYP.

SHINee is "Married to the Music"

SHINee dropped a new single for their new repackaged album, and the song and (ESPECIALLY) the music video are beyond kick-ass.

I'm a horror fan so the entire cartoony horror theme and Rocky Horror/Addams Family vibes of the MV are right up my alley. IMO, it's definitely the best video of the year so far, and it's for sure now one of my favorite MVs of  all time.

I swear, though, let's all be real, SHINee can seemingly do no wrong...

Actual flaming charisma Minho, LMAO.

LAST

I'm going to be real. I don't particularly care for Kdramas. But I am giving 라스트 (LAST) a chance. For one, Yoon Kyesang is the star, and secondly, the plot actually sounded interesting, albeit, pretty ridiculous.

Last night I watched the first two episodes.

Kyesang is Jang Taeho, a hedge fund manager who loses 35 billion won when like some sort of trade deal that he attempted to manipulate is sabotaged. A loan shark dude loses a ton of money that he invested in the scheme so he obviously wants to kill Taeho now. Taeho and his partner are caught, and the gangsters attempt to stage a car accident by getting the two drunk and, with the two inside, pushing a car into the river. Luckily, Taeho is able to escape.

Previously, things were looking good for Taeho- he had been scouted for a job on Wall Street and he had proposed to his girlfriend (she said 'no' for now but anyway...). Now, he must go into hiding. He pawns the engagement ring and uses the money for hotels. It doesn't last long. Soon he is out on the street.

He ends up at Seoul Station, and he meets a bunch of homeless dudes. Namely, Cha, Youngchil, and senile old man Jo.

Of course they're colorful characters. But they at least take Taeho to a place where he can get a free meal.

While waiting in line, a scary looking dude with a fucked up eye shows up. Taeho gets pissed when he sees them cutting, and he stands up to the dudes. They beat him up, and he misses out on food. However, his new hobo buddies explain to him that the scary dude named Snake-Eye. He is one of the Seoul Seven, a bunch of guys who control the underground economy. They force the homeless to panhandle, collect their earnings, and use them to extort local businesses (and the one guy kills them for their organs like WTF). All together it's pulling in like 10 billion won. Taeho thinks if he can get to the top, with that much money, he can start his life over.

Later on, still starving, he runs into Snake-Eye and his posse again and knocks him out. His posse then turns on him, and words gets around that Taeho fucked Snake-Eye up.

So the rest of the hobos in the district are pumped, and Taeho gets to take over Snake-Eye's district.

Pouring one out for his fallen homie.

And also he decides to fight his way up to become king of the hobos.

In episode two, we get more of an introduction to the rest of the Seoul Seven. Apart from Number One (Kwak Heungsam) and Number Two (Ryu Jonggoo), the others appear to be dumbasses that I suspect Taeho will have an easy time dispatching.

Like this, yo, 'til the break of dawn~ Can you feel it, everybody c'mon~

And it also delved into the subplot involving Taeho's ex-girlfriend (she's got to be his ex by now). Well, it turns out she's the illegitimate daughter of chaebol (of course you gotta have a chaebol in your Kdrama), but now that her father's wife has died, she's being brought back into the family. She's also now dating some other dude who works for her father. I don't know where this subplot is going; maybe it has something to do with how Taeho's deal got sabotaged? But Taeho needs to just forget about her and get with the soup kitchen girl.

Now that he is committed to fighting to the top, Taeho seeks out Number Two because he wants him to train him how to fight. Number Two, Ryu, before he became homeless, was a legitimate fighter, and he also seems like a pretty alright dude (he lives in an old bus, which is cool).

Even though he knows Taeho plans on fighting him eventually, Ryu decides to teach Taeho how to fight.

So cue the training montages...

Taeho is getting cocky, though. He's confident, but Ryu warns him that he's still not ready to take on rest of the Seoul Seven.

Unfortunately, Poison-Snake, Number 4, finds out who Taeho really is. He tries to take this info to Number One but Kwak's bodyguard is like tell me or GTFO. So he GTFOs. But dang, he has this info on Taeho, what is he going to do? It's even weirder because Kwak had lunch with the loan shark dude in this episode too...

Taeho finally has had enough of Number Six/Sergeant Bae's shit, and at the end of the episode, Taeho challenges him.

I'm going to assume that there will be a whole lot of ass kicking...

Like most Kdramas, it's ridiculous. But so far it's a good ridiculous.

Taeho, as the main character, is supposed to be a sympathetic character, but I don't know about that. People in finance are unsavory figures. Taeho's market manipulations were illegal, and I'm not too sure as to if Taeho is acting very altruistically in his dealings with the other homeless guys. He decides to split 50-50 of what the homeless dudes make from panhandling. This is obviously a great move for the hobos, but he wants word to get around about it so more hobos move onto his turf. More hobos means a bigger hobo army for Taeho, though. If he becomes the new Number One, he's going to be taking an even bigger advantage of all these vulnerable homeless dudes. SMH...

I'm also kind of feeling weird about the portrayal of the other homeless men on the show. But maybe I'll save that analysis for another post.

Nonetheless, I'm hooked on the show, and I'm eagerly awaiting for subbed episodes three and four as I write this...

The last king of homeless dudes.

Let's talk about July releases

July is coming to a close, and I thought I'd write a little about some of my favorite tunes from this past month.

There was a lot of talk about the girl group comeback war, but for the most part, it all was a let-down. There were some bright spots though...

9Muses came back with the amazing "Hurt Locker." It was much better than "Drama," and I hope with their recent promotions they gained even just a little more popularity. God knows they truly deserve the public recognition.

GFriend did it again with "Me Gustas Tu." Along with Awesome Baby, they're definitely my favorite group that debuted this year, and they do the "innocent" concept so well with good songs that they're not ridiculously boring. Attempts at discrediting them by claiming that they're copying other idols are made by turds who are just jelly that their faves don't have good enough jams.

As with the jam "Marionette," Stellar's "Vibrato" came with a very provacative MV that overshadowed a really good song.

I never gave a shit about Hello Venus, but "난 예술이야 (I'm I'll)" is a jam.

Goo Hara's solo debut surprised me. "Choco Chip Cookies" was boring AF; however, the rest of her mini album was actually pretty good.

"Ring My Bell" by Girl's Day wasn't that bad, in my opinion. Though Two X's "Ring My Bell" is far superior, and even that is like so bad it's good.

SNSD's "Party" was an okay summer jam, too. Nothing special, but still good. Very excited about the two other tracks they're coming back with.

As for male groups, I already wrote about how I enjoyed Super Junior's "Devil," but I also really really liked Infinite's "Bad." I was a fan from back during their debut, but their releases after "The Chaser" did nothing for me and I just kind of stopped caring about Infinite. However, I think "Bad" has won me back. I was also fairly impressed with GOT7's "Just Right." Since they debuted I struggled to find anything appealing about the group (well, apart from Jackson), but finally they put out a song that I could actually get into.

Primary's "Don't Be Shy" with AOA's Choa and Iron surprised me too. Solid laid-back jam~

My overall favorite song this month, though, has to be LeeSSang's comeback "주마등 (Kaleidoscope)." It's such a pretty song. It's so good, such a jam... I just really love it.

Hopefully August offers up a lot more quality jams~

Another 18 seconds of Jongmin

So for a new video for 18초 (18 Seconds) Jongmin got covered in Mentos...

And then he fell into a pool of Coke...

I didn't think Mentos and Coke was still a thing, but okay.

Check out the show's Facebook page and Twitter.

And more importantly like/fave Jongmin's videos for me (Facebook: 1 & 2; Twitter: 1 & 2).

Update! More videos came out while I was sleeping...

Just take a look at these real quick

Look at these adorable pics of Yoon Kyesang with his dog Gamsa.

The Matshot Episodes 1 & 2

Okay, so this is of course a little late, but ya know, better late than never.

So 더 맛있는 원샷 / 더맛샷, or as I will continue to refer to it as, The Matshot, finally aired its first two episodes over the past two weeks. As I was eagerly awaiting for this show to start, I, of course, have watched both episodes, and I thought it'd be a good idea if I tried to get more people to watch it as well.

If you are a fan of Moon Heejun, you need to watch the show. If you don't mind Heejun and Kim Taewoo (as I know they can be somewhat polarizing figures), the show is definitely worth a watch.

The first episode was absolutely hilarious.

The cast meets and are introduced to the chefs (white team chef Park Junwoo and black team chef Lee Jingon), then they decide what teams to split up in. For these two episodes, it's the white team (Suwon and Taewoo) vs the black team team (Heejun and Thunder).

When you turn around and find out you're stuck with Heejun...

They're also introduced to the food trucks...

Taewoo is of course a little too big for the truck...

The rest of the episode has them going to multiple spots to play games and sample spicy foods. But the funniest moments are found here.

As expected, Heejun is the ring leader, and he does not disappoint. He keeps the atmosphere fun and goofy and is not afraid to put himself down. At this point though Taewoo is seemingly the one who can keep up with his antics. Suwon is Suwon... and he's not known for variety antics, but he still tries. And Thunder is the odd one out, but I'm sure he's on this show to build up his variety show cred.

Check out these clips (they work, I just uploaded them directly to the blog)...

The second episode is more straight forward and focused more on the cooking/competition aspect.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to watch though, so I won't say who wins.

I know food/cooking shows have been doing well over in Korea lately, and I hope The Matshot is a hit.

If you're interested, head over to Dailymotion and check out episode 1 and episode 2.

More clips can be found here.

If you're not interested IDK why you're here...

Another Koyote post

While Shin Ji was prepping her solo comeback, it seems like Jongmin and Bbaek Ga were up to something stranger...

Shin Ji posted on Instagram about a Jongmin Facebook page that had a ridiculous video uploaded onto it...

Apparently, it is a submission for a new SBS show called 18초 (18 Seconds).

But I just love it on it's own.

LBR, I would love anything that involves a nude Jongmin.

Shin Ji solo comeback

Shin Ji finally dropped her trot song "두근두근 (Pit-A-Pat)."

It's pretty good. I mean, I knew I would like it, and I am definitely feeling it.

Shin Ji sounds great, though I have found her voice can be an acquired taste. Here, however, the song is easy to listen to, and there's no way anyone could complain.

Plus, she looks amazing in the MV.

Shin Ji is an actual goddess.

I'm fairly happy with everything, TBH.
